Serpents of The Sea
Our fantastic new feature showcases eels, snakes and all things serpent-like from beneath the waves. Many are brightly coloured, others verge on the bizarre...and one or two are deadly! In this feature you will see how creatures can evolve. The sea snakes are very close relatives to land snakes and still have to surface to breathe. It also shows how humans may have mistaken large moray eels for sea monsters!
In addition to the Dragon Moray the new feature will also showcase the Snowflake, Zebra and Unicolour Snake Moray Eels.
"We have introduced cleaner shrimp to the tanks so that the customers can watch the moray eels being cleaned and even getting a dental inspection" said Alex Gerard SEA LIFE Curator.
Whilst the Moray Eels aren't venomous the same can't be said for the other of SEA LIFE's newest residents. "The Banded Sea Snake is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. It has about 10x more venom than a rattlesnake!"
Serpents of the Sea will comprises five brand new tanks in a specially tailored arena designed to both mesmerise and menace. It also seeks to show how important such creatures are to the broader ocean eco-system.
