Shakespeare's Birthplace

Shakespeare's Birthplace
Shakespeare's Birthplace is situated in the centre of town on Henley Street, and is the place where Shakespeare was born in 1564 and lived with his family. It is also highly probable that Shakespeare and Anne lived here when they were first married. Shakespeare's Father, John acquired the main part of the property in 1556 and parts of the building were owned by descendants of Shakespeare's sister Joan until 1806. A pilgrimage for visitors for centuries, the property was acquired by the Shakespeare BirthplaceTrust in 1847.
